Noise levels rose as villagers greeted old friends after a year and a half of coronavirus restrictions. The proceeds are going to the Village Hall.

Sandra Liddle and Peter Trimingham, guardians of the two defibrillators, are currently renewing the pads (as they are required to do).

  • Summer Soltice

THE SUMMER Solstice on the 21 June is the longest day of the calendar year when we get the most daylight.  The United Kingdom bathes in more than sixteen and a half hours of sunlight compared with fewer than eight hours at the Winter Solstice. It was light past ten o’clock.

The grass and foliage are at their most abundant. The road to Sykehouse takes on the appearance of a green tunnel.

The Village Hall is back in action. Saturday, 26 June will see a tabletop sale  between 11 am and 2 pm Tea and coffee will be available in the small room.

The limited tickets for the village quiz at 7.30 pm on Friday, 2 July have all been sold. The organisers ask quizlings to wear masks when moving around the hall as we are still following Covid regulations.

In common with the rest of the country Fishlake is suffering from swarms of flies this summer.

Doncaster’s new museum is open but tickets have to be booked online. Visitors are impressed with the presentation and layout of the museum which includes part of the old Girls’ High School, trains built in Doncaster and an exhibition about Mayflower 400.
